Started as a cultural/community gathering in 2010, the Hester Street Fair operates every Saturday from April to October at Seward Park on the corner of Hester and Essex Streets. The fair takes place on the site of what was once the city’s largest pushcart market, started in 1895.

The street stretches from Essex Street to Centre Street, with a discontinuity between Chrystie Street and Forsyth Street for Sara Delano Roosevelt Park. Suspended until March 29 Grand Bazaar, the weekly fair located on the upper west side at 100 West 77th Street is suspending their events until the end of March. This nonprofit’s booth rentals go back to benefit 2,000 of local public-school children at four local schools.
